The Delacroix exhibition

The Delacroix exhibition

The Painter's Studio

Dear readers,

Since childhood, I am passionate about discovering premises loaded with history as often as possible. Indeed, you can’t imagine the number of atypical places which carry with them relics of the past and which tell us lots of gripping stories. Hotels, museums, chapels, catacombs or simple artist’s studios ; varied are these special places where you can feel the memories and the feelings invade the place around you.

That is how this week I discovered the museum of Eugene Delacroix, the greatest French painter of the Romantic movement of the nineteenth century, museum who had previously been his studio for the last years of his artist life. The museum, which is manage by the inevitable Louvre museum, presents us with its last exhibition some recent acquisitions where the famous painter serves as a model for other artists of its generation by being of the other side of the canvas.

Eugène Delacroix and the Romantic movement

For my part, I was standing with my mouth open front the amazing beauty that was coming out of the interpretation of the famous paint of « The Women of Alger » painted by Henri Fantin-Latour. He realized this homage to honoured the original work of Eugene Delacroix that he loved so much. You will also have the chance to admire many objects, engravings or gravings who have been a part of the daily routine of the man. This exhibition makes me discover the greatness of the painter who was romantic, genius of colours, innovative in its field and considered as a model for many artists as Pablo Picasso or Henri Matisse.

If there is a place where I feel in a real artist studio, it’s at the hotel The Walt. The paints, which decorate each one of the walls of the place, inspire me everyday. For nothing I will miss a visit in this wonderful decor.

My dear readers, I hope to have aroused in you the desire to discover this single place that will make you live exciting feelings.

See you soon,
