The Eugène Delacroix Museum

Romantic House

My dear readers,

I am pleased to share with you today a museum that I really like, the Eugène Delacroix museum.

This charming little house located in Fürstenberg Square was the last home of Eugène Delacroix. You can admire his works and his studio overlooking a very quiet garden.

In an intimate and warm atmosphere, the museum offers a personal approach to the work through a lovely selection of paintings, drawings, pastels. You will also discover letters and photographs of his entourage, Baudelaire, George Sand or Théophile Gautier.

The place is very romantic and offers a little moment of happiness out of time. I like to go to the Eugène Delacroix Museum because it offers temporary exhibitions renewed regularly.

French Symbol

Do you know this French painter of the 19th century?

Eugène Delacroix is considered as the main representative of Romanticism with his paintings on canvas and his decorations on the walls and ceilings of public monuments.

Most of his works are of literary inspiration, but he also paints engaged works and religiously themed paintings.

During the 1855 Universal Exhibition, he was recognized as the artist who went beyond classical training to renew painting!

The Louvre Museum exhibits one of its most famous paintings: "Liberty leading the people". This 1830 masterpiece, inspired by the Three Glorious Revolution, is a major French play. The work has often been chosen as a symbol of the French Republic or democracy!

See you soon!
