THE TEMPORARY GRAND PALAIS

THE TEMPORARY GRAND PALAIS

WHO AM I ?

Constructed for the 1900 Universal Exhibition near the Avenue des Champs-Elysées, it features the largest Nave in Europe, crowned by a glass roof of more than 17,000 square metres. Iconic site of the French heritage, it participates ardently in the artistic and cultural influence of the capital by hosting international exhibitions and events. Cosmopolitan and unmissable, it welcomes each year more than 2 million visitors from all over the world.

As you will have understood, this is indeed the Grand Palais.

Weakened by the wear and tear of time, the majestic building is being renovated and modernised, and will remain closed to the public for at least 4 years. The closure is intended to bring safety standards up to date and improve accessibility conditions, especially for people with restricted mobility. The renovation work will also allow new exhibition areas to be opened up, thereby increasing the cultural offer.

ART, CULTURE AND INNOVATION

In the meantime, a Temporary Grand Palais was built on the Champ de Mars until the renovation work is completed. It will take over - by hosting major events, such as exhibitions or parades - from the immense hundred-year-old palace. Located at the crossroads of the very chic 7th and 15th arrondissements, it benefits from a central and breathtaking location, in line with the Eiffel Tower.

Art Paris 2021 will have the chance to inaugurate this new exhibition space during its next edition, which promises to be unique and spectacular. Unmissable "rendez-vous" for Modern and Contemporary Art, it also aims to make these fields accessible to a larger public. This year Art Paris brings together 140 art galleries from more than 20 countries. Mainly European artists will attend, but also artists from Korea, Colombia, Ivory Coast, Guatemala or Uruguay. An event not to be missed!
